Cookie Policy
Last updated: September 2, 2026
This policy explains the cookies and similar browser storage used on nj.kitchen, what each one is for, and how you can control them. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
What cookies and browser storage are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep. Websites also use two related mechanisms built into your browser: local storage, which persists until it is cleared, and session storage, which is discarded when you close the tab. We use all three, and this policy covers them together.
What we use
Strictly necessary
These are required for the site to work. Without them you cannot stay signed in or keep a saved selection.
- Sign-in session — kept in your browser’s local storage by our authentication provider so you stay signed in between pages and visits. Cleared when you sign out.
- Security and load balancing — set by our hosting provider to serve and protect the site.
Functional
- Recently viewed products — stored in local storage so the site can show you products you have already looked at.
- Prompt preferences — two cookies record that you dismissed, or already responded to, our optional “save your favourites” prompt, so we do not ask you again. These last 7 days and 1 year respectively.
- Cookie choice — if a cookie preference is ever recorded for your browser, it is stored in local storage with a matching cookie so the choice is remembered for a year.
Your saved product selection is not held in a cookie. When you are signed in it is stored in your account in our database, so it follows you between devices.
Analytics
We run our own first-party analytics to understand which pages and products are useful. It is not operated by an advertising network and is not used to build a marketing profile of you.
- Visitor identifier — a randomly generated identifier in a cookie that lasts 1 year, so repeat visits from the same browser can be counted once rather than many times. It is not linked to your name unless you are signed in.
- Session identifier — a randomly generated identifier in session storage that groups one visit together and expires after 30 minutes of inactivity or when you close the tab.
Alongside these we record the page viewed, the referring link, how long the page was open, your browser type, and an approximate location — country, region, city, and postal code — that our hosting provider derives from your IP address.
Third-party services
Some features on our pages are supplied by third parties and may set their own cookies or storage under their own policies:
- Contact form, appointment booking, and website chat, provided by our CRM and messaging platform and embedded in our pages;
- Web fonts and image delivery from the content-delivery networks that serve them; and
- Address suggestions from the mapping service used when you type an address into a request form.
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies on this site.
Managing cookies
You can control cookies and site storage in your browser. Every major browser lets you view and delete stored items, block cookies from specific sites, or block them entirely — usually under Settings → Privacy. Browsers also offer a private or incognito mode that discards this storage when you close the window.
Blocking or deleting cookies for this site will sign you out, clear your recently viewed products, and make optional prompts reappear. Blocking strictly necessary items will prevent sign-in from working at all.
We do not currently present a cookie consent banner on this site. If we add one, this policy will be updated and the “Last updated” date above will change.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as the site changes. The “Last updated” date above shows when it was last revised.
