Accessibility Statement
Last updated: September 2, 2026
NJ Kitchen wants everyone to be able to browse our catalogue, request a consultation, and reach our team. This statement describes what we have done, what we are still working on, and how to get help if something on this site does not work for you.
Our commitment
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines describe how to make web content usable by people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, hearing, motor, and cognitive differences. Accessibility is ongoing work rather than a finished state, and we keep reviewing and improving the site.
What we have implemented
- Text contrast. Body text and interface text are checked against their real background — including text placed over photographs — to meet the WCAG AA contrast minimums.
- Readable type. Body and explanatory text is set at 16px or larger, interactive labels at 14px or larger, and small capitalised labels carry restrained letter spacing so they read as words rather than texture.
- Touch and click targets. Buttons, form controls, navigation items, and the quantity and close controls in the selection drawer provide at least a 44 × 44 pixel usable area, even where the visible glyph is smaller.
- Keyboard access. The site can be navigated with a keyboard, and focused elements show a visible focus outline on both light and dark backgrounds.
- Assistive-technology labelling. Icon-only controls — such as the cart and account buttons in the header — carry accessible names, and the price-level indicators are announced as “Price level N of 5” rather than as a row of symbols.
- Structure and semantics. Pages use ordered headings, landmark regions, descriptive link text, and image alt text so screen readers can convey the page structure.
- Responsive layout. Pages reflow without horizontal scrolling from 320 pixels upward, so the site can be used zoomed in or on a small screen.
- Motion. We avoid automatic motion that cannot be escaped, and the site does not use flashing content.
Ongoing work and known limitations
- Embedded third-party features. Our contact form, appointment booking, and website chat are supplied by an external platform and rendered inside our pages. We do not control their markup, so their accessibility may differ from the rest of the site. If one of them blocks you, contact us by phone or email and we will help you directly — see below.
- Supplier content. Product images, names, and specifications come from manufacturers and distributors. Some descriptions are brief and some images carry text we cannot edit. We improve these as we review the catalogue.
- PDF documents. Estimates and similar documents we send you may not yet be fully tagged for screen readers. Ask us and we will provide the information in another format.
- Continuing review. We test as we make changes rather than only at fixed intervals, and we have not completed a formal third-party audit. We are not claiming certified conformance.
Need help, or found a problem?
If any part of this site prevents you from finding what you need, please tell us. Describe the page and what happened, and include the browser or assistive technology you were using if you can — it helps us reproduce the issue. We will work with you to get you the information you were after, and we are glad to take your request by phone or email instead of through the site.
